A Tactical Plan for Strong Lead Generation

Post by Jess Kuykendall, Copywriter

As buyers are becoming more aware and educated, your typical lead generation strategies might not cut it anymore. This might be the time to start some new tactics.>

Give Away Some Assets

Free stuff will always draw a crowd, and as far as lead generation, this is a tested and proven method for gaining new leads. Create an ebook, whitepaper, infographic or any simple, downloadable asset, and offer it to your target audience for free. Regardless of your industry, people are willing to get free valuable content in exchange for their email address.1

Optimize and Refresh Your Forms

Constantly test your forms to see if they're producing the desired results. This is where A/B testing will become your best friend. Is your form too long? Are you asking for too much info? Are there too many fields? Is the design captivating your reader or distracting them? Does the "Submit" button stand out? What field type works best for your reader? These are the questions you should be asking, and getting answers to so you can create your best form.2

Get Social

Social media marketing can be your best friend, if done properly. It's not necessarily about promotion, but rather about amplification-extending your reach and increasing social share. The breadth of knowledge and information about social media optimization is astronomical, however it's important to know what your target audience is looking for, when they want it, and where you can reach them. Just because all your competitors are on a certain channel, it doesn't mean your business has to be. Use the social channels that are right for your audience.3

Improve Your SEO

SEO can be useful on many fronts, but in the case of lead generation, to get the most from it you need to match your goals with the goals of your customers. Find the "keywords" that resonate with your target audience and are relevant to your business. Use these keywords in your content, but not so much that you seem "spammy."4 The more natural your writing is, the better your Search Engine Results Page (SERPs) rank will be. The higher your rank, the better the opportunity is for more traffic to your page.2

No matter how you approach B2B lead generation, it's never going to be a walk in the park. However, with these new tactics in your repertoire, you'll feel refreshed and invigorated, and hopefully attract some new leads for your business.
