Similar to our post back in September 2016, where we covered the missed opportunity of Thank You pages, we'll be taking a look at how to effectively utilize Contact Us pages. While nearly all websites have a Contact Us page, some aren't leveraging their full capabilities for generating leads.

The Contact Us page offers a huge opportunity to collect viewers' information, creating new leads.1 However, some businesses only put their corporate email address on the page. This inevitably doesn't collect any data or record of the communication-thereby a missed opportunity. The key is to use a contact form.2

Tips for creating a successful Contact Us page:

  • Use fewer form fields - the sweet spot is between three and five fields
  • Include a link to your privacy policy - reassure people that are hesitant to provide personal information
  • Utilize a strong call-to-action with a bold button - increase the button size and bring attention to it with a bright color like green or blue
  • Place the form above the fold - the best converting spot is in the upper right hand corner
  • Don't overcrowd your page with too much text, imagery, or bright colors - it shouldn't be overwhelming3
  • Anticipate the reasons why potential leads would contact your business - make your page useful and personalized1

The value of leveraging contact forms is immense. Following up with a new lead is fast and easy. Using a contact form that's set up with specific questions such as, "Why are you contacting us?" allows you to use an automated email sequence to follow up. If they're asking about specific product information, you can set up an email sequence to send them a few emails about that product. You can even have these form fills sent to the salesperson responsible for a specific product.2 The possibilities are endless when it comes to using contact forms.
